Year In Pictures: More Holiday Bokeh
I really can’t get enough of photographing the ornaments on my Christmas tree this year. The couch is right next to the tree, which means I am sitting next to it a lot while I’m on my laptop. (Also, it’s just so pretty!) So I figured, as long as I’m right here I might as well practice some bokeh shots for the Digital Photography Blogs Christmas Bokeh contest going on this week.
There is still plenty of time to join us! Just head to our Flickr pool and add your photos.

Another couple of great ornament pictures! I’m going to have to try some more before we take the tree down soon. My daughter’s going to be so disappointed that it’s down when she wakes up the morning after we put the decorations away! She sat at the breakfast table this morning and asked “Where’s the tree?” because we told her yesterday we’d take it down after she goes to bed…. We didn’t get around to it. She must not have played in the living room before breakfast time.
You can’t beat the 50mm prime lenses for these photos!

You really can’t beat the 50mm lens for these types of shots. I was able to get so much detail and depth of field in such low light situations. Perfect for the soft lights of a Christmas tree. I hope you were able to get some shots of your ornaments and decorations before everything got packed up for the year. I hope looking at these photos later on during the long, hot summer months will tide me over until next holiday season!

Sadly, I wasn’t able to get any good pictures of decorations before taking them down for the year. I did, however, get some photos of my girls in front of the Christmas tree, playing with an off-camera flash.
Next year will be the year for fun Christmas decoration photos, I guess.
