Year In Pictures: Stocking Up Before The Holidays
It’s beginning to look a lot like . . . wait, Thanksgiving? Don’t worry, I haven’t busted out the Christmas decorations yet. I’m a firm believer in waiting until December to start thinking about that. (Even though I have already indulged a bit in the 24/7 Christmas music that a local radio station starts in mid-November.) But I realized we have a new person in the family this year and there was a sale on stockings, so we stocked up (ha!) on a couple new ones for the kids. Actually, the 3-year-old got to pick them out. They are now safely back in their bag in the garage until it’s time to officially decorate.

Thanks for waiting to put up your Christmas decorations, must be hard with kids!
I know the stores have had them up since Halloween, no wonder everyone’s burnt out from Christmas a week ahead of the actual holiday.

Jim, I know! I really hate the over-saturation of everything this time of year, most specifically the blatant consumerism. We try to be as contemplative and peaceful as possible this time of year so that the kids really celebrate all season instead of all this crazy build up and anticipation for one day and then a big let down.

As it should be. It seems like the biggest credit-cards in town can’t improve on the real meaning of Christmas. Good for you.
