Year In Pictures: Fairy Tales

YIP ~ Day 245 "Mommy, give me some pixie dust. I want to fly!" Both my and my husband's arms are a little tired from being fairy flying facilitators, but we don't mind. Here my daughter takes a break just long enough to contemplate how to fly over that fence to play with the dog. Image detail: In Photoshop, I toned the image with a little blue, adjusted contrast and curves, and added a vignette to give it a vintage feel. I left the soft feel on the whole photo except for the wings, which I sharpened to make them stand out as the focus of the shot.

This is beautiful! I love the timeless feeling it has. Makes me want to be a kid again, either that or stop and play with mine before it’s too late.

Thanks, Lisa! I’m a sucker for vintage processing!

hey Amy its really brilliant… wonder if you also have any photoshop tutorial explaining in detail how to get these effects.. I also like the drooling snap :)

Hi Nilesh! Thanks so much. I will do more tutorials, for sure. Thanks for the suggestion. Now I just need to be more mindful about remembering exactly how I make each photo. I usually do a lot of tweaking in Photoshop (from actions I’ve picked up along the way to my own personal tweaks), so it’s helpful to write it all down so I can remember later how to replicate the effects I come up with!
