Year In Pictures: Pop Goes the Eyes
Drooling. That’s what he does. And he does it well. I know someday all his clothes (and mine!) will be dry again and I’ll forget about this soggy stage of babyhood, so I know I’d better capture the drool puddles while I can.
Want to get eyes as bright as this little guy? Do a simple and quick pop on them in Photoshop or other image editing software. Add a duplicate layer to your image and click the eye icon off so you can work with the original background layer. On the background layer, boost the curves up in the middle of the chart so the photo looks really bright. (It might even look overly bright. That’s OK.) Next, go back to the duplicate layer, turn the view back on, and add a layer mask. Then, with a soft black brush set to about 50% opacity or below, paint over the whites of the eyes and any catchlights. Or you can paint over the whole eye if you want to pop the eye color a little brighter, too. You might have to play around with the opacity level to see what suits the photo best. And then just flatten the layers.
There are much more complicated and effective ways to do this, I know. But this is the very quick and easy way to capture bright sparkly eyes every time!

Teething? Fun stuff. I’m glad my kids are mostly through that. The only thing worse than dribble like that is slobber from a hound!
I like his eyes. They almost look like views of earth from a shuttle.

Oh my gosh, tell me about it. Micah’s and my shirts are always dampish. Somehow you made drool cute! And the eyes, wow! Thanks for sharing how you do it. Maybe someday…

Thank you all!
@John — I don’t know if it’s teething. He’s only 4 months old, so it seems a little early. But it definitely could be! My daughter didn’t get any teeth until she was nearly a year and a half, so I’m kind of thrown off on when that’s really supposed to start!

I guess they all develop at different times. My youngest daughter is a year and 4 months and she has quite a few teeth. I don’t remember when she started getting them. All I know was she was more difficult at teething than my older daughter was!
