Year In Pictures: Making Messes
“Mommy, I made messes!”
This is what my almost-3-year-old daughter told me she when came out of her room after 15 minutes of silence in there. “No problem, sweetie. Let’s just go see….Oh! Wow. You weren’t kidding.”
She’s got a lot of books. And re-shelving them all at once is not fun. Well, I’m sure it’s not as fun as un-shelving them. But at least photographing them was colorful and fun.

Yes! I’ve been working on the concept of taking out one book and putting it back before taking out another one, but it is slow to sink in. I think it’s just much more fun to pull them all down. Emily is getting better, but Katrina… At least they like to read! Anyway that’s what I tell myself as we reshelve them for the billionth time. Maybe next time I’ll have to pull out the camera. Great pictures!

At least it’s a colorful mess! It could be worse… It could be food. You may not be so inclined to pull out the camera for a mess of spaghetti. Your daughter’s mess makes for nice photographs.

Thanks for commiserating, you guys!
@ Lisa - Yes, that’s what I say, too. At least she likes to read! I’ll deal with the mess any day for a girl who loves her books.
@John - True. Although I was all over the messy eating photos in the beginning when she was learning how to eat. But now, the camera doesn’t come out as often around food. Toddler eating messes require much more immediate action!

Speaking of food - we have a video of the girl trying to grab the camera and each time her little hand reaches out I feel the same anxiety as when we shot the footage!
