Lampshade?

I second Adam’s guess. It looks an awful lot like the paper my wife used to use in some of her art classes in college. I kind of wish she had some left. It looks like it would be nice to set on a piece of glass with a light underneath to do some creative product photography.

John, that paper sounds cool. You’re right, it would absolutely make a nice backdrop for some photos!
