Year In Pictures: Adding A Little Pink
It’s rare that I can get my very active daughter to sit still for a portrait shot. So most times I just keep shooting until I get at least one that isn’t a blurry back of the head as she runs off. This day, however, she was in a more pensive mood and caught her in a moment of contemplation. The image came out a little soft, but I think the effect works well with the mood of the shot. To add in a little drama to the photo later in Photoshop, I added a layer mask with pink coloring set to low opacity to give it just a little bit of a sunset feel, even though the photo was taken mid-day. It’s a quick and easy way to change what time of day your photos appear to have been taken.

Hi Tamara! Yep, it’s Sophia alright. She’s featured all over these pages! Her and little baby brother are my photography muses these days.
