Year In Pictures: 50mm Lens
What did I do without this lens for so long? Lovin’ me some 50mm action, baby. Just look at those eyes. So sharp! Sorry, Tamron Zoom. I know I said I was going to leave you on the camera for awhile so you could see the light of day and have a little fun, too. But it looks like you’ve just been replaced.

Great shot.
I use the 50mm more then ever. Especially when I’m looking for sharpness.

Thanks, Stephanie and Rosh! Yes, I can already see this lens definitely taking prime spot in my camera bag.

Everyone should own this lens. It’s way to good for the price.

The 50mm lens is an amazing lens for sure. I love the ability to shoot wide open with it and get nice, shallow depth of field and also being able to enjoy the sharpness of a prime lens.
I’m thinking about getting the Kenko Extension tubes for my camera. That should add some spice to my”Nifty Fifty” project on my blog!

John, I LOVE your nifty fifty idea. And if you get the tubes, please do leave me a link to where you’ve posted photos using them. I would love to see how they work for you. Also, I’m going to have to check out the 10-20mm lens you mention on your blog. I’m always on the lookout for a good lens!

The 10-20mm lens is a great one. I find that I shoot as wide as it goes and wish it would go wider. But, there are other times I wish I could get narrower than 20mm. When shooting people, I try to keep it at 20mm as they get real funky looking at 10.
I’m surprised at some of the photos I’ve posted for my Nifty Fifty project. I expected they would mostly be close ups with narrower depth of fields, nothing like the picture of the party boat on Otisco Lake or my lawn mower. It’s a great lens.
If I get the extension tubes, it likely won’t be until next spring when the flowers start coming around again. I’d love to have them now, but I really want to get a flash. Winter is going to leave me shooting inside more, and, a lot of the people pictures I’ve done outside could stand to use a bit of fill.
