Year In Pictures: Mixing Colors. Letting Go.

YIP ~ Day 218

Play-Doh fun.

Major progress in the “mama learning to chill” category was made today. We played with Play-Doh and my daughter made a bunch of fun shapes and the very cool birthday cake with crayon candles seen here (it makes sense to a toddler). When that got old, she wanted to mix colors to make a “special creation” and—lo and behold—I let her! (Unlike last time.)

And guess what? The world did not stop rotating, birds did not stop singing, my heart did not stop beating. Smushed colors went back into any old container—blues in black, yellow and greens in red—and we’re all doing fine. Mostly. Deep breath, Amy.
