Announcing: Stephanie Simpson Photography!

Screenshot It’s official! After 3 months of hard work getting things together, I’m finally and officially open for business. While I’ve been taking pictures oh-so-semi- professionally for a while, it suddenly became the right time to make it real. Chloe started preschool in March, and I found myself with 9 hours a week of my very own, and a photography business is a dream I’ve had for a long time.

Please come visit my new website. It’s all shiny and pretty and colorful. The site was built by David Mallon and Kevin Johannen at iKnow in Portland, Maine, and they did an awesome job. David knew exactly what I wanted before I did, and I couldn’t be happier with the design. I found them through my favorite mom blogger/writer/crafter, Amanda Soule.

GalleryScreenshot Starting my own business has been quite a learning experience. I’ve learned about taxpayer ID’s, DBA’s, the California Tax Franchise Board (yikes), California laws for charging sales tax on photography (there’s a whole webpage about that), accounting software, hiring a web designer, Google keyword searches, pricing philosophies, and all kinds of interesting small business tidbits.

All that business stuff is just a framework, though, for the real and important stuff - photography. I’m concentrating my business on families, babies, & portraits, and eventually, I’d also like to add weddings to the line-up.

If you know anybody who wants to hire a family photographer in the Los Angeles area, please send them my way!

Please take the time to search around the new website and tell me what you think!
