A must-do

Photography is one of those endeavors in which you’re constantly learning.

That’s what, if you’re trying to learn new things, makes it so enjoyable (yeah, and frustrating at times).

Since photography is mainly about light (and focus and composition and….) , there are a few blogs out there that are a requisite for anybody who wants to learn more about lighting.

Strobist is one I’ve told you about before (click here) , it’s a wonderful place to learn a lot (and I do mean a lot) about off-camera flash.

The one I’d like you to check out today is ProPhoto Life, Jim Talkington and Friends have some excellent videos ( á la You-Tube) explaining different aspects of studio lighting, many using such professional lighting equipment such as clamp-on lights and sticks (as light stands) bought from HomeDepot.

So, since you have no excuses like “Wah, they only use expensive strobes!”, check out ProPhoto Life, do yourself a favor and learn all about lighting.

About Jim Dennewill

A Southern California native, Jim Dennewell has had a fascination with photography since elementary school. Weaned on his family's old Kodak Brownie cameras (you know, the ones where everything moves backwards in the viewfinder), Jim has fostered his love for the art and tech of photography over the years. Originally known here as "Slightly Out of Focus," Jim is one of our favorite authors.
