A great photography magazine…

I read a lot and a lot of what I read pertains to photography. I subscribe to a few magazines such as American Photo, Outdoor Photography (which I really enjoy, they have some really good writers) and get a few trade-publications as well.Ome of my current favorites (and it has been for some time) is Rangefinder Magazine…

This is a high-quality magazine aimed at professional photographers and it shows.

The quality of the print, layout and writing are second to none, and the articles (written by or about some of the best) always have a ton of insightful information you don’t get in most of the other magazines.

While they have advertisements, like any magazine that wants to survive, you quickly get the impression that the articles aren’t advertiser driven, but “photographer” driven. They convey the information you need to know and rarely (if ever) push manufacturers names and products in the article, except to tell you what the pros are using, and that’s not always the latest and the greatest but sometimes the tried-and-true.

To me this ads credibility to the magazine, and along with the quality of the publication, makes me want to scour their ads for quality equipment and supplies.

You get the impression that the advertisers in this particular magaziine are just as quality and photography oriented as the magazine itself.

So, if you get a chance, check out their web-site here and see about getting on their subscriber’s list, it’s one magazine you won’t flip through in a few minutes, but read all the way through at least once if not more.

About Jim Dennewill

A Southern California native, Jim Dennewell has had a fascination with photography since elementary school. Weaned on his family's old Kodak Brownie cameras (you know, the ones where everything moves backwards in the viewfinder), Jim has fostered his love for the art and tech of photography over the years. Originally known here as "Slightly Out of Focus," Jim is one of our favorite authors.
