PicLens rocks and Flickr does video!

Always looking for a new and/or faster way to view photos on-line, I recently downloaded PicLens.

PicLens is a plug-in for internet-browsers, currently available for Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer on the Mac or PC.

From the PicLens site comes this: ” PicLens instantly transforms your browser into a full-screen, 3D experience for viewing images on the web. “

I downloaded the software for Safari and Firefox, it’s free and (on the Mac at least) a breeze to install (it installs itself ).

At first it ran very nicely on both browsers, but after a recent update to Safari, it stopped working. PicLens is working on an update to this, but for now, it won’t work on the latest Safari update.

Butt, as the man at the thong-convention exclaimed , with Firefox (my preferred browser anyhow), PicLens works very well indeed.

With Google Image, for example, I searched for “Automotive Concepts” and, when they came up on the Google-page, I clicked on the PicLens arrow (which now appears on each photo) and “Shazam!”, I was off blasting through web-shots of car concepts like a Rebel-fighter blasting through a trench on a Death Star. It was awesome.

More awesomely, when I logged onto my Flickr account, and clicked on the PicLens arrow, I was able to quickly scroll through my extensive photo library and find any and all my shots.

Swooping a swirling in a 3d space, the photos looked awesome, and when I stopped on one, it’d quickly come into focus and actually appeared sharper on my screen than when I don’t use PicLens.

A very impressive way to show everyone your Flickr catalog!

So, without any further ado, run over to PicLens (click here) and load it up, it’s free and you’ll love it!

Also,

Flickr does Video!

Now Flickr has added video support to it’s web-site (Pro accounts only). It’s only good for small, low-rez video, but at least it give the moving-pictures types a place to show their wares on Flickr. It’s going to be interesting to see how the users push this feature to the max and think of things no one’s thought of before.

Enjoy!
