1 Shot 4 Ways

Unedited ORIGINAL

Pathos Green BRIGHTENED

Pathos Gray FILTERED BLACK & WHITE

I love Picasa. With minimal effort and with a few clicks of the mouse, you can do all kinds of photo editing and make a big difference to your pictures.

Here is one shot, four different ways. The first shot is the original picture. The second shot was brightened up in Picasa by playing with the fill light and highlight sliders (found at the Tuning Tab).

For the third shot, I went back to the original and did a straight black & white conversion (by pressing the B&W button in the Effects Tab).

The last shot was made using the Filtered Black & White button (in the Effects Tab). These filters work like traditional B&W filters and are used to adjust contrast and manipulate tones in the gray scale. Every shot is different, so playing with the color options for these filters can give very different effects.

If you haven’t played around with photo editing, Picasa is a great place to start. Oh, and it’s free.

Great example of different photo treatments but I noticed you didn’t use Picasa’s “face-clean” filter! :)

Nice! Yah, we affectionately call these the “schmutz series.”

Those pictures are terrific.

Totally agree. Editing tools in Picasa is simple yet produce great and high quality result. Most of my family shots edited here. But still my favorite photo will be edited in Picnik or Photoshop. By the way, it is the best (and free) photo management tool.
