Photo Contests galore!

Are you curious where your photography stands in relation to others? Have you ever heard about a really cool photo-contest after it was over and you were looking at the winners and thinking “Man, my nephew could take better photos!”?

Well, wonder no more, we have a hot-tip on a site that announces upcoming photo-contests and hooks you up so you’ll be in the thick of the action!

Photo Compete is the site where they list Photo Contests that are currently happening (ever heard of National Geographic? Thought so…).

It’s a site created by Andrew Beliavski that aggregates the contests at one, easy to look-up site and makes it easy for you to find a photo-contest (or Photo-Contests if you’re so inclined) that might be right up your alley.

If you’re a company or person looking to hold a contest, you should be sending your contest info for all the Photo Compete readers to find . Just use their Submit Contest tab, making it quick and easy to get your contest info out to the world!

Photo Compete also has a Resources tab to help you find other photo-related sites, a On-Going tab to see which contests are running daily, weekly or monthly, a Soon-to-Expire tab to tell you that you need to get going if you want in certain contests before they’re over.

They also have a Useful to Read section including a link to “How to Win a Photo Contest” (that’s helpful!) and “Why You Should Organize Your Own Photo Contest”

So, if you’re an Organizer and need to get your info out, or you’re someone who constantly sees that they could beat the winners in a lot of contests, check out Photo Compete (click here) and stop hiding your photographs on your hard-drive. Who knows? You could be the next big winner!

About Jim Dennewill

A Southern California native, Jim Dennewell has had a fascination with photography since elementary school. Weaned on his family's old Kodak Brownie cameras (you know, the ones where everything moves backwards in the viewfinder), Jim has fostered his love for the art and tech of photography over the years. Originally known here as "Slightly Out of Focus," Jim is one of our favorite authors.
