Southern California fires

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who have lost their homes as the fires continue to spread across Southern California today.

Here’s the latest from the California Dept of Forestry: “Slide Fire Green Valley Lake near Running Springs San Bernardino County

This fire has burned 8,500 acres at Green Valley Lake near Running Springs in San Bernardino County. More than 100 homes have burned and 400 continue to be threatened. Mandatory evacuations are in place for Green Valley Lake, Arrow Bear, and Running Springs. All roads into the mountain communities are closed. 17 engines and five water tenders are currently assigned to this fire….”

This is currently one of three fires burning above us, and is, compared to others, very small compared to San Diego, Orange County and Malibu/Los Angeles fires.

It’s highly probable that at  some of the fires were arson-caused, so in the public-interest, we submit a link to help deter arsonists..

Here are a few shots of the Arrowhead/Running Springs fires taken from our front windows. The fire continues to spread and take homes and structures….

Day 2

Day 2-Fires (and smoke) spread to the East.

The smell of acrid smoke fills the skies and we hope for a nice change in weather and a quick end to all the destruction.

We also thank and continue to pray for all the fire-crews trying their best to fight these fires within the confines of the situations they face. The weather, the terrain and the budgets continue to be less cooperative than we could hope for.

Also, Stephanie had a great blog that becomes even more relevant at this time, check out her blog on Digital-cameras and house insurance here .
