The Trouble With Being the Family Photographer

BEACHHHHHH I take a zillion pictures every week. Chloe is probably the most photographed kiddo in the land at this point. But the trouble with being the family photographer is that I’m never in the pictures! I realized this significantly during a trip Chloe, our friend Wendy, and I took to the beach on Monday.

I took about 100 pictures of Chloe playing in the sand, running in the water, etc., some of which I totally love, but I realized it looks like Chloe is there all by herself.

There’s my little 2-year old at the beach all alone. How did she get there? Can she drive? Is no one there to look after her? Evidently not. Not a foot or hand or wisp of hair of mine entered any of the pictures. Wendy is nowhere to be seen and I am hidden behind the camera. Granted, I don’t like having my picture taken, particularly not while in a swim suit, but sheesh.

I’m going to have to remedy this. I’m going to have to suck it up (and suck it in), and make some appearances in our family pictures. There, I’ve said it. Crud, that means I’ll actually have to do it.

‘Tis always the “problem” with being the “person with the camera” wherever you go. Haha.

This is always my complaint too. I try to shoot reflections of myself if at all possible. Obviously, at the beach this would be difficult, but other places it works. I even have a standard photo-title that I use on Flickr: “I was there too.”

Good luck!

maybe a lightweight tripod & a remote on a two second delay may help
