Which P&S Should I Buy
So the old Elph is no longer, which means we’re lacking in the Diaper Bag Camera department. I need to replace it soon as the D70 is a pain to haul around everywhere. Seeing as it’s home will be the diaper bag, I need something small, durable, low in features, and pretty cheap. I’m thinking sub-$200 cheap. I know Canon has some in the $130-$150 range, but I don’t believe they have rechargeable batteries, one of the few features I’m insisting on. Any recommendations?

The Fuji F30 looks to be a pretty good P&S and now that it’s no longer “new” you can find it for a decent price. The high ISO capability (with low noise for a P&S) make it appealing.
My son has a Casio Exislim and I was surprised at the responsiveness of it and the quality of the pictures (7mp I believe).

I have a Sony DSC F-828, which I love. I had the F-717 but it had a problem with the sensor, if I recall. I got the 828 to replace it. But surprise, surprise, I was handed a tiny Sony DSC W50. It’s small size is a plus - pop in it purse or pocket. You can see examples of both on my website. The Handsome Meadow Katydid on http://www.thelensflare.com was less than a half inch long. The W50 is only six megapixels as opposed to the 8. But you can’t ask for more detail than this. When you look closely at it on the computer, it is bright and sharp. Also, I do a lot of insects, and this seems non-threatening to them.
You can find them on eBay. They aren’t expensive at all now, because technology marches on. I would not hesitate getting the 8 megapixel upgrade.

Sorry - for the Handsome Meadow Katydid link, you’ll have to go to http://www.thelensflare.com/u_may.php. There is also a Blue Dasher dragonfly on pickerel weed, a macro, that is a beauty, taken with this little camera.

[...] finally settled on a new Diaper Bag Camera (DBC because acronyms makes it sound more important and technical). It’s been sorely missed [...]
