Fireworks Shots

Fireworks2 075ED I love the 4th of July. In our corner of Los Angeles, fireworks are legal so it’s madness and chaos into the wee hours of the night.

If I was a sound effects editor, I would record the sounds of fireworks here as the sounds of war.

Fireworks2 070EDBANG! BOOM! CRASH! CRACKLE! SHRIEK!

It’s nuts and it goes on from just before dark until like midnight. Chloe slept through the whole thing, which was hilarious.

The challenge when shooting in an environment like this where there is no plannedFireworks2 067ED display is that you never know where the explosions are going to happen. Sometimes, I would just point the camera in a promising direction and hope for the best. This kind of worked, but it was hit and miss. And inevitably, there were awesome fireworks going on wherever the Fireworks2 06ED6camera was not pointed!

Still, it was a really fun night that will probably continue tonight for the people who bought way too many fireworks last week. The amount of money that exploded last night must be staggering! But it was free for us and all from the comfort of home. Nice.
