Day 14 - Vintage Valero

Vintage Valero While pumping gas yesterday, I took this shot thinking I would put it in Chloe’s baby book to show how “low” gas prices were when she was a little girl.  Hopefully, there will be some kind of brilliant new fuel in the future and we will not need gasoline anymore.  I’ll be driving my slick, flying car by then, and Chloe will be asking me for “battery money.”  In the meantime, here is what gas cost in Southern California yesterday morning.

I used Adobe Lightroom to give this shot a Sepia tone, and then played with the vignetting function to give it darker edges.  I’m testing out Lightroom with their free 30-day trial to see if I like it.  So far, there are many functions I like about it, such as the red-eye button, the pre-set coloring buttons like sepia, and the ability to tag each image that comes into the library.  Whether I want to spend $199 on it is another matter.  I plan to try out other programs before decide.  The price of Lightroom goes up to $299 after April 30th, so I have a limited window for making my choices.  There’s no way I’d buy it for that since I already have Photoshop.  I’ll keep you posted.

Oooh - you should totally try F-Spot. I love it! It’s open-sourced (FREE!) and it does all those great things that Lightroom does — red eye, sepia, color correct, tagging. You should definitely try it out before you decide on Lightroom.

Neat shot! If it weren’t for the prices, I’d think it was vintage. I still have a shot that I took near Westwood of the outrageous prices of gas…it had actually shot-up to 36-cents a gallon…ridiculous.
