I don’t know about where you live, but in Southern California, spring is in full bloom. It’s beautiful, yes, but the flowers are downright killing me with their pollen and allergins. I didn’t get a chance to post my photo for yesterday (Day 13) because I’ve been practically blinded by the tears streaming down my face from allergies! So today I’ll play a little catch-up and post my Day 13 and Day 14 photos together.

I really like the way today’s shot turned out (above). I was walking out of the pharmacy, of all things, picking up a prescription for my allergies when I saw this lonely Dandelion in the grass. I crouched down low, but still had to guess when I was making this shot. There was no way I was going to lie down in the grass while sneezing and with a few passersby looking at me with concern. Because of the guesswork, I had to Photoshop out part of a tree in the upper-right corner (through Clone Stamping and cropping). But overall, I still really like the way this image turned out.

My image yesterday was a flower, too. Not my favorite of the Photo A Day project, by far. But I liked the way the Bird of Paradise was sitting in the shade and was nearly washed out by the bright stucco wall. I wish, though, that the green in the stem had popped out a little more. So to just use my mistake, I just adjusted the levels enough to give the flower more of a silhouette feel and left it at that.

Hope you enjoyed the little ode to spring and all those demon flowers out there that, however fun they are to photograph, are not fun on my eyes!
