Day 2: Spring Is Coming!

Photo A Day, Day 2: Spring's coming! Day 2 of the Photo a Day Challenge, and I’m still here! Amazing. And, although I took about a hundred photographs of my favorite subject, my daughter, today in the late afternoon light, I resisted posting one as my daily shot in lieu of the flowers. I figured I would have plenty of time for photos of Sophia over the course of the month (well, and my second fall-back, flowers, for that matter).

After a week of cold(ish) weather, it was a welcome relief to have such glorious weather today, so I headed outside to see what I could find. These flowers were just starting to bloom on my neighbor’s tree. What a great reminder that Spring really is almost here.

Day 2 runner-up: EnhancedI took the photo above with my point-and-shoot Canon set to macro. I like how the focus is on the flowers to the right, not the ones up front, which kind of helps move your eye through the photo. I tweaked the levels just a little, but decided to do something a little more dramatic for my runner-up shot. I played with colors and saturation and ended up with this deep purple version of the flowers for the most dramatic look.
