Nikon To The Rescue

Dropped the wounded D70 off at the Nikon service office today.  I think the kind woman that helped me was the same one that helped me the previous times I’ve been there.  After taking down my info she looked up the camera history.  It was actually pretty funny.

Nikon Rep: I see the camera was here in 2004…and again in 2005… What happened to 2006?

She said she’d let me know when it was done.  When I asked what the fee was to have it checked out, she said she was going to give me a complimentary repair, provided there wasn’t any water or sand damage.  I was shocked.  They did this for me in 2005, but the camera was only about 6 months out of warranty.  Now it’s another 1.5 years, almost 2 years out of warranty and they’re going to fix it again.  While I treat my equipment extremely well, it’s certainly see it’s fair share of use over the years.  Now I’m curious as to how long they’ll keep fixing something.  I mean, at what point is a DSLR deemed “done”?

I can’t tell you how happy I am with their customer service.  Today’s example is certainly a way to keep a customer.  I’ve been a Nikon fan for many years and with treatment like that, they’re sure to plenty more of my business.  Kudos, Nikon.

Glad to hear they’re helping you out. I’ve generally always been pleased with Nikon Service in El Segundo.
