Post-Christmas At Shooting The Kids
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and captured many great memories with your cameras. I’m back from my month-long break. Chris was great to cover for me while I’ve been busy with the craziness of life and work and toddlers (and, of course, a little cookie making).
I have to admit that even though I understood less than half of his last few posts on Linux and Ubuntu, etc., it was fun to have a little change of pace here for a bit. I must say, Chris is quite the expert and can definitely talk his way around all things tech. And apparently you guys are really into the tech end of photography/computing, too, because our traffic saw a big jump while I was away. Hmm…makes me think I should stay away longer next time.
Anyway, I am back again for tag-team writing with Chris. Now that we have a few more tech-minded readers, Chris will still be posting regularly with news and tips for photography about everything from the joys of open-sourced software for photo editing to handy photo storage options. I might even post a few of my own Ubuntu-related articles, as I’m having to learn a whole new way of editing my photos, uploading them to Flickr and simply browsing them on my laptop.
You can also expect many, many more articles from us in 2007 with tips and tricks for getting the best photos of your kids. Shooting the Kids is coming up on our 1st birthday in January, and we’re planning on celebrating the best way we know how — by shooting a ton of pictures, experimenting with new photo projects and challenges, and bringing you new and exciting content! We hope you’ll pick up your cameras and join us!

Responses and Conversations
Hey Amy,
I love that shot of you and Sophia making cookies. That’s a classic and a keeper. I tried for that perfect cookie-making photo moment, but it was a total mess. Chloe was squirm central and it didn’t look nearly as fun and familyish as your awesome pic. Nice job!
I didn’t really understand much Chris was writing about either, but I love the word Ubuntu. I use it now to mean anything tech-oriented that seems over my head. “Oh yah, that’s Ubuntu to me!” “Let’s plug the Ubuntu into the 1.21 Gigawatts.” I’m psyched to learn all about it.

Steph – Ha! No kidding about Ubuntu being fun to say. You kind of have to grunt in a tribal sort of way when you say it. But I love your great use of it!
Oh, and Sophia lasted about 23 seconds on my lap with the cookies. Her hands were all in the frosting and then up her nose. But hey, she sat there long enough for Grandma to snap a quick “family moment” photo before the frosting ended up in her hair and in/around her mouth!

Are Your Children or Grandchildren, Kids/Goats?
We really should try to speak like we love GOD and all HIS Creation, especially HIS Children.
In Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Concordances: His Children
On your website on Internet we see the words Kid/Kids , if we looked at the language of the Bible we see Goats.
In Strong’s Concordance the Old Testament Hebrew word Kid is Strong’s number ryes sa’iyr of res sa’ir, bn, zn from TWOT-2274c, 2274e KJV – Kid 28, Goat 24, Devil 2, Satyr 2, Hairy 2, Rough 1.
In the New Testament Greek we see Kid used once. In Luke 15:29 it is also defined in Strong’s Concordance number as Goat.
We read in Matthew 25:31-32: When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep [His Children] from the goats : And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues [the language of God’s word, the Bible].
Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues*, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
* not the language of the world.
Let God be Magnified!
In Christian love,
Sincerely,

I must confess that I myself have been guilty of this error in my life. I thank our Lord that you shared this with me and that I too, by His mercy, will be able to make this correction.
Our Lord is doing a mighty work in these last days*. I marvel that He tells us in Matthew 24:21 that there is a great tribulation such as was not since the beginning of the world. But at the same time He also tells us in Matthew 24:37-38 that the world will not perceive of this great overturning (Ezekiel 21:27, I Corinthians 1:27-31). I pray that He will give us wisdom to keep us humble in these last days*. We must glory in Him and know that it is all of His work and we are but unprofitable servants doing that which is our duty (Luke 17:10).
