Why Ubuntu and Not Kubuntu or Some Other Linux Derivative?
I didn’t think this one through, actually. I’ve used Debian for years and knew I wanted to use something based on it. I don’t like the look of KDE much. I wanted a LiveCD so I could test things. Ummm… that leaves me with Ubuntu.
My business partner, Christoph, uses Gentoo. He likes the control. I used to really like Suse on my laptop – the icons are nice. But Ubuntu has that whole Nelson Mandela thing going on, and who doesn’t love Nelson Mandela? Don’t answer that one.
So there you go. We may switch to something else in the future. Who knows. Which system do you prefer and why?

I had just assumed you wanted an OS with a name that would be equally at home in Star Wars or the Lion King. Shows to go ya.
