Flickr Mapping: Is It For You?
Have you gotten at all into the Flickr Mapping rage? If Flickr wasn’t already great for exploring photos by tag, photographer, time or group, for the past few months you’ve been able to explore photos by the actual place they were taken. It’s a cool concept and one that, I have to admit, I’ve only recently spent time exploring. So I wanted to get any opinions from people who have jumped on the geo-tagging bandwagon.
Even though most of my photos online are of my daughter, Flickr Mapping is set up so I can set my permissions so that the photos I map would be seen by just my contacts, only my friends and family, or even just by me. Basically, Flickr once again makes it easy for you to set your level of privacy to where you are comfortable.
And you can easily search all kinds of tags, too, for photos from a particular destination. Like, for example, my quick search for photos mapping Route 66 below!
If you’re interested in giving it a go, it really couldn’t be easier. Just drag and drop your photos onto a map in Organize. If you need a little more help than that, check out Flickr’s quick 90 second overview or their forums for help.
Millions of photos have already been geo-tagged on Flickr. What’s stopping us?

Never tried it, but it looks interested. It would be a bear to go back and do it for all my photos, but something that might be worth the time going forward.
