I thought it was about time I tried my hand at the DP Blogs September Photography challenge — favorite things. And I couldn’t think of a better photo to showcase some of my favorites than one that includes two of my faves — chocolate and my daughter!

My daughter’s friend Chloe turned one last week and was kind enough to share her birthday cupcakes with Sophia. Sophia was thrilled, as she had only the week before tasted her own birthday cake and had gotten the idea that sugar was quite a good thing indeed and had decided she’d like to taste it again as soon as possible! I love the picture above because it gives the illusion that Sophia was tentative and shy about eating the cupcake. Her little fingers seem to be just barely touching the chocolate, trying to decide if she should take the plunge.

But do not be deceived. My daughter heard chocolate’s siren call. She might have started slowly, but she sure ended strong. And that’s why these pictures are included in my favorites. I love chocolate. I love the messiness of having fun. And I love experiencing it all through my daughter’s excited and expectant eyes. It doesn’t get much better than that!
