I got my Bling on Route 66
Man, you’d think they were giving chrome away for free these days!
My wife and I went to the annual Route 66 Rendezvous this past weekend. Held in San Bernardino, California, this celebration of the glory days of Route 66 attracts some awesome cars and more.
There was chrome by -the -yard out here. Dropped Cadilacs were everywhere, hot cars and trucks, toothy-grilles just smiling with pride as the cars were painted to within an inch of their lives.
Big, bad blown motors where whining down the street while the smell of racing gas hung in the air….awesome.

For those of you who think size-matters, there were even some tasty Semi-trucks whos chrome-grilles probably cost more than the GNP of 18 third-world countries.
How’s this for a beauty, a 1948 Autocar…..
and a Jimmy Truck with enough chrome-plating for an entire year’s Hyundai production.
The weather was SoCal perfect, shirts and t-shirts were the order of the day.
as the cars slinked down the road with like a schooner on a calm sea….
Like I said, the paint-jobs were no Earl Schieb specials, looking awesome in the California sun….
and toothy-grilles were everywhere….
Some of the more unusual-rides were the lemonade wagon….
and the West Coast Bad Boyz who were selling rides in the SuperBus (not your normal go-to-school ride this)…..
All in all there were a lot of people having a good time enjoying the show and the endless parade of cars….
Some people were REALLY into it.
This years event was sponsored by Stater Brothers supermarkets and lasted for four days, with cars coming from all over to participate. It was awesome, someday I’ll show you the other 500-pictures I took with my trusty Nikon D-200, Nikon SB-800 flash, and Nikon 18-200 VR zoom lens.
But now, this is the end…

That puts a whole different meaning on the “short bus”.
Nice pics.

As long as they can make it back down the stairs, they can ride the SuperShortBus.
Thanks, Shayne!
