Carousel Horses

Carousel Horses I’ve been on vacation for the last week in Deer Park, Washington. I took lots of great pictures and am downloading them now from my cameras. I was treated to many great sunsets in Washington and the weather was amazing. Stay tuned tomorrow for a new feature article about improving sunset shots.

While in Spokane, we took Chloe on her first carousel ride. It was built in 1909 with brass ring and everything. It’s beautiful, but carousel horses have always freaked me out a little. I like this horse because it’s so frozen in its pose. I used my Nikon D70s with a 70mm lens. Then I played with the shot in Photoshop a bit this morning.  I adjusted the levels to brighten the highlights. Then I increased the contrast slightly and adjusted the color (in Color Palette) to bring out more of the reds. Here are the shots side-by-side, before and after.
