Moms, Get In The Picture!
I came across another fun tip from the always helpful Rookie Moms blog. This one is definitely directed right at me. And it’s about getting out from behind the camera. Keep reading for some suggestions on how to get in the picture…
I realized as I was looking over my post about removing unwanted clutter from photos, that most of my pictures are of everyone but me. Such is the life of a photographer, eh? I have a ton of great shots of my husband and the baby. And I’ll try a shot here and there by turning my little camera around and snapping us squished together (like the photo above), but those are never great because you can’t really set them up. And you by no means get any good background in those kinds of shots, much less everyone’s face in the photo! As you can tell, my baby is trying to scoot her way right out of this one.
So I’m going to take Rookie Moms’ suggestion to heart a little more often:
Armed with your digital camera, make friends with the auto-timer function. Take some candid shots of you and your little one. Be generous with the picture button. Go nuts. Even if the shots aren’t your ideal of perfection, you’ll be glad you did it. It’s fun and a great bonding activity.
So turn on your camera’s timer and get yourself in some of the shots. Besides, you’ll want to see that awesome hairstyle of yours twenty years from now. Trust me.

I hate to knock our own suggestions… but how can the photos be candid if you are using the auto-timer? I’m going to have to rewrite this one!

I started thinking about how Chloe will never know what I looked like when she was a baby because I’m NEVER IN THE PICTURES! Hmmmm, self timer, huh?

Steph, I know! For every 100 pictures taken with my camera, I might be in 2 of them. But I’ve found that I’m not patient enough or baby doesn’t sit still long enough for the timer. I’ll have to experiment a bit with it and see what I come up with.
