Lame Photo Gallery Websites
I have a bone to pick about photography websites. This applies to websites for photographers and for galleries. Why is it that some sites feel the need to apply all kinds of animations to their websites? Images fade into one another, and rotate and zoom and use Flash to operate. Why? Why apply all of these special effects to online galleries about still images? It makes no sense to me. When I go to the website of a photographer, I want to see cool images. I don’t want to wait half an hour for the flash page to load or 10 seconds between each image because they have to zoom in and out. It should be a perfect marriage – the still image and the website. Apparently, many web designers don’t agree. When I see a website like this, it sends a message to me that maybe the photographs aren’t that interesting and they need to jazz them up to distract me from thinking how lame they are. Photographers, embrace your still medium and let your images speak for themselves!!
Thank you. I needed to vent.
