Summertime, and the living is easy…

The Taste of Summer Stephanie over at I Speak Film is starting up a Summer Photo Challenge, and since I'm always up for a challenge these days, I think I'll join! I'm not sure about all the details yet, like how long it will run, but I'll get back to you on that. I have noticed that I've already accumulated quite of few quintessential summer shots of my daughter (like this one with the watermelon --- Mmmm!), and I am always looking for more, which is what this challenge will be about. It would be fun to hear ideas from our readers on what, to them, says summer. Thinking back to being a kid, the three months of summer were always the highlight of the year and seem to be where most of my great memories were made. What about you? What do you think of when you think about the summers of your childhood? Maybe I'll make a list of shots I want to try to get for this challenge from your comments!

[...] Now that I’ve got that Summer Photo Challenge floating around in my head, I’m thinking about all kinds of great summer things to take pictures of. Swimming in a kiddie pool? It doesn’t get more summer than that! This photo is of my daughter’s first plunge in a pool — we’re starting small! [...]

[...] I’m still looking all around me when I can for Summer Photo Challenge inspiration. And, of course, what could be more summer than a beautiful outdoor wedding reception? Summer is definitely wedding season. And I can say that with authority because Chris and I are away for the weekend celebrating our 5-year wedding anniversary! (Wait, and I’m blogging? What the heck? I’m going to make this one short!) [...]

[...] I might do another photo here and there for the Summer Photo Challenge, but I promise more content is coming this week! I’ve been a little light on the content because, well, it’s SUMMER! You should all be outside having fun and taking pictures anyway, instead of sitting in front of your computer grumbling about my blog. Heh – just kidding, of course. But expect a couple interesting features soon, with topics including faking depth of field with your point and shoot and a book/lecture review of a fabulous new children’s book about photographing letters found in nature. [...]
