What is WRONG with your Camera Manufacturer?
Often we here camera buffs ripping on the manufacturer of the camera brand they don’t own. I’m not sure if it’s honest constructive criticism, or they’re just trying to make themselves feel better about the brand that they purchased. So my question today is what do you NOT like about your camera manufacturer? I’ll start.
- Nikon was very late to the game with the “silent” focusing lenses and still doesn’t make enough of them.
- Nikon is a little slow with new product releases. (This may be changing)
- Nikon has crippled the majority of non-pro cameras by disabling full feature support with manual lenses. Grrr!

Nikon’s latest products are like the most popular girl at the dance. Her dance card’s full, so all the guys get mad because it takes so long to get a chance to dance with her.

I haven’t found too much wrong with Canon (that I can think of right now), except for the usual thing that everyone sells the stuff much more then what its worth. Sure, they have to make a living, but still..

I’ve got a vintage late 1980s Nikkor 70-210 f4 auto focus lens. It’s a great OLD lens. Why Nikon doesn’t make a modern 70-200 f4 for between $500 and $600 is beyond my understanding. Canon has one (as well as their 70-200 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8 IS lens). The only high quality 70-200 lens Nikon manufactures is the $1500 70-200 f2.8 VR. I own it. But C’mon! It’s the only high quality choice in that focal range from Nikon.

I have the same lens! It’s great. I agree, Nikon needs to make a lens like that again.
