Travel Photos-Part II Detail Shots

In our last travel article (click here) we covered some of the general aspects of travel photography, now we’ll examine addtional opportunities to take your audience even closer in the world you’ve just experienced.

One thing you need when taking vacation and travel shots, are “detail shots”. These type of shots can help better convey a sense of place and take your viewers closer into the place you are showing them. They can better illustrate local people, foods, vehicles, customs, almost anything that’s different from your day-to-day world is a photo opportunity.

Tightly cropped scenic shots help get your audience in closer from the wider shots that are typically taken.

They can convey detail that would be missed along the roadside as one drives by…

or a local grower gives the viewer more to apprecate of the local environment.

Unique shots of local landmarks make a nice change from mid-day wide angle views…

Signs with the name of the city you’re in help to localize your story and let the viewers know where they’re looking at…
