I was thinking about writing a blog about how to cut mattes for framing, but Sarah at The Small Object did a brilliant job of illustrating this on her site. Mattes can make all the difference in how an image or piece of artwork is perceived. They can bring out color, give a sense of elegance and permanence, and make a simple something into a work of art.
