Great Lighting blog & musings
Mark Goldstein over at Photography Blog (great blog by the way) brings our attention to STROBIST. It’s a very well written blog on supplemental lighting equipment and techniques.
Written by a professional-photographer , the articles are thougtful, informative, and mindful that we don’t all have a million-dollar photo budget.
If you’re doing ANY kind of photography, you must check out this site.
Musings…
from WIRED, comes news of yet another liquid lens technology. At PhysicsWEB, they talk about electronic focusing of the lens (check it out here). makes you wonder when they’ll stop introducing yet another “new’ 3x zoom point-and-shoot, and give us that 8mm-to-1000mm pocket camera.
…also, when will they adopt a 3-chip camera (RGB) for digital-still photography like they have with video? Makes you think they could better control noise and exposure by utilizing the 3-chip system. this could give us the HDR camera we all want (maybe with the 1000x zoom pocket camera above..).
….with the proliferation of great photography and photographers in Flickr and similar groups, it makes you wonder about the future of photography in general…will this be the end of high-pay for photographs, or will that market move into the more sophisticated photography (helicopter shots, extra-large format digital) and the rest will be a commodity market employing the “flickr-community”? Makes you ponder a bit….
