More promoters of kids’ digital photography

BearWe at Shooting the Kids are always excited to find people out there promoting teaching kids about photography early. After my recent post about setting kids up on Flickr and showing off their photos, I came across a post on the new parent tips and ideas blog, Kiddley, about almost the same thing. The author let his 3-year-old daughter begin shooting some photos on their vacation with his digital point-and-shoot, and since then she has gotten more comfortable with the camera (and he has gotten more comfortable letting her use it). He has created a pool on Flickr to highlight images taken by your kids. (Photos of projects you're doing with your kids are also encouraged here.) The post is a good read and has a couple cute shots by his young daughter, like the one above. I also wholeheartedly agree with the author on his following thought:
One of the amazing things about the photographs that little people will produce is that they are unencumbered by the kind of critical thinking that often inhibits adults. They have a genuine 'beginner's mind' approach to photography.
Wouldn't it be great to get kids comfortable with a camera and out shooting their world far before the intimidation factor sets in? And with cost of film prints not a factor with digital photography, it's just yet another reason to hand over the camera to Junior. Thanks, Kiddley, for getting us inspired!
