Being Intentional

I've been thinking a lot about something John at Syncspeed wrote about a couple of weeks ago. He wrote about needing to be more intentional about his photography. Lately, I've been shooting things as the spirit moves me, you know, capturing moments. Sometimes, I'll intentionally go on a photo excursion like to the Arboretum or Huntington Gardens, but that's just not enough. I feel the next phase in my photography is bubbling to the surface and the key word is INTENTIONAL. I want to think of a shot and then execute it. I have two big projects churning in my head, and soon, I'll have to do something about it. The first project is to do a series of plein air photographs. I really like California plein air paintings of the 1900's, and think I could translate that style to a photographic medium. The plein air style is like California impressionist landscape painting. With a little help from Photoshop, I think I could make some beautiful images. The second project is to do a cinematic/commercial series. I want to create scenes with actors that depict a commercial or comedic/dramatic moments. I want them to look and feel like movie stills. So thanks, John. You planted a seed.
