Babies Make the Best Sushi
Since I’m working from home and taking care of the Daughter, I also get to make dinner for the family. We have five standard meals that we have during the week, and tonight’s was pad thai. I made some sticky rice to go along with it, and served everything up.
Amy decided that the rice would be a great opportunity to see how our little one would do with something more solid than pureed butternut squash (which is actually really good warmed up). The answer was… she would find a way to get rice stuck to every single piece of clothing she was wearing in addition to any exposed to skin. And because it’s good-old sticky rice, it became afixed to her more or less permanently.
We sat there laughing so hard we couldn’t eat. It was definitely time for the camera, which I’m still surprised isn’t covered in rice. Here’s the other angle we got…
Personally, it’s one of the more joyous parts of being a parent - watching your child discover with reckless abandon how amazing the world around them is. So how ’bout it… got a great story or photo of teaching your little one to eat big-people food?

[...] So I realized in order to feel a little better about what my baby was eating, I needed to begin experimenting with some of the foods we eat. Just the stuff appropriate for a baby, of course. But you would be surprised how much regular ol’ every day food she can eat! Last night was sticky rice. And as my husband so eloquently articulated in our other blog, Sophia LOVED it and so did the dog, who was conveniently hovering under her high chair the whole time. [...]
