Day 19-Walkway to Heaven
Well here we are, before you know it, Day 20 will be rolling around. But first, I spotted this really cool service for people with kids. It’s being sponsored by Connected Photographer / Zatz Publishing, and the article is written by James Booth. They have a .PDF file that you can download and attach a CURRENT picture of your child, along with a place for fingerprints. This is a good thing to keep in a safe place (and update at least a couple of times a year) in case the unthinkable were to happen. This is cool, so check it out here. (KidID).
Now, where were we? Oh yeah, Day 19. I was hanging with my friend Jeff Hasegawa tonight at the South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA (and yes, they have an Apple Store there!).
They have a really cool pedestrian bridge that connects South Coast Plaza to South Coast Metro. The bridge is architecturally cool,is 3-stories up, and is cantelevered over the parking lot. Every time I cross the bridge at night I always think I need to get a few pictures of it, so tonite was the night!
I brought up my Nikon D200 and my Nikon 18-200 VR zoom lens. Set the camera on cloudy white balance to keep things warmish, and set the ISO to 500 as it was pretty dark. These were all taken handheld and I was able to get a few photos before Security came and (very politely) told us that there’s no photos allowed. We of course didn’t argue, as their job is an important one (especially in this post-911 world), and the main thing was we got our shots to bring you today!
This is the second time this week I’ve been chased away by Security (the first was at Douglas), so I think tomorrow’s shot will have to be in a less hazardous environment (like my backyard….maybe….).
I took a couple of other shots using the same settings. The elevated walkway, from certain angles, reminds me of a vertebrae of a large-prehistoric creature. Like I said, architecturally, this is some cool stuff.
The lighting around the walkway is very nicely done, and the escalators have some neat blue-neon to help guide the way.
This could be the entrance to a spaceport in the outer Galaxy, with some creature sprouting antenne waiting to welcome you to the planet Hyperion….too much fun.
So if you’re ever in Orange County and have a need for Hermes, Barneys New York,Gucci, or Tiffany, check out South Coast Plaza it’s a cool place to drop 3-years salary in one night!

Very cool!
You’ve been reading my mind, since my last visit to this mall, I’ve been planning on taking my camera back. You’ve raised the bar with some really cool and quality images.

Thanks, ‘Dog. You’ll need to take “the misses” with you so she can wander around the store with your credit-card. Watch out for security though!
