Cutting It Close on Day 6
This one is barely making it in time (again). I need to get the camera out during the DAY. Sheesh. I’m such a slacker. Seeing as it was dark, and I was inspired by others, here’s my take on the candle photo.
This shot was taken with my Nikon D70 and Nikkor 50mm f/1.8, wide open, ISO 200. I added a GAF 500 color film effect with Alien Skin Exposure Photoshop filter.
Here’s some others that were in the running. The photo on the left got a cross process (Agfa Optima) effect with the Alien Skin filter. What do you think?

Slacker or no, you made a pretty picture. I love the curve of the metal and the cool backlight action. Is that a mirror reflection? I could go into composition mode and tell you how I like the strong center, the arabesque leading you through the frame and the attention to the corners, but that would be geeky.

Come on, geek it out. I want to here more. I had to google “arabesque” to find out what it means.
And yes, it was a mirror reflection.

I’ve been shooting a photo a day and find that sometimes it takes me most of the day to figure out what I want to shoot. I don’t think you’re a slacker or lazy, just taking your time and getting it right.
After all, although it’s great to push through and make the shot, isn’t it more about the journey? Just my 2 cents.
