We've whole-heartedly accepted the Photo a Day Challenge that Stephanie at
I Speak Film put out to her readers. And since she had just posted about
Rembrandt Light, I've been meaning to try out her suggestions on a subject. So in the spirit of "two great tastes that taste great together," I present... Rembrandt Light Giraffe and Duck. Not that I'm into choosing sides, but I really I think the duck works better. You can actually see the triangle under his eye.

So - are you interested in joining the Challenge? It's really easy - just head on over to Stephanie's site and check out her page about how to
join in the fun. And if you're interested in prizes and stuff,
DSLR Blog is joining us as well, but with a slightly different twist.
Oh - and
check out our page each day for a new photo. We might just learn how to use our Canon Powershot!

Thanks for the reminder. Who in the world came up with the name “30dayphoto?” Sounds like a photo that takes 30 days to shoot – the epic shot of a lifetime. Certainly doesn’t sound like a Photo a Day.

I think the prickly pear things on the giraffe give it the winning edge. What are those things? On real giraffes, I mean. Antlers? Antennae? Handles?

I’ve always thought they were handles because seriously, what advantage do rounded horns give an animal in the wild? They sort of say, “Beware me – I will backrub you to death!”
In the case of the baby, they serve the role of providing yet another piece of plastic to gnaw and drool on. Oh Teething – what joys you bring!

I don’t know…associating the name of one of the greatest artists to have ever painted with a Duck?
Seems unethical to me…the Giraffe however is awesome! I think Rembrandt would have loved it!
(PS: I always thought that the nubby things on the tops of their heads looked like control-levers that you’d move fore and aft to raise thier necks up and down…..)
