Party Photos
The group of people who built Digital Photography Blogs (Glued Ideas) got together for some carne asada (Shayne, you rock!) and some pinata beatin’ last weekend and John from SyncSpeed brought along his Nikon camera (”Momma, don’t take my Kodachrome away!”). I finally got to really play with a real digital SLR!
I basically went nuts taking pictures of everything I could – beer bottles, my feet, flowers, door bell buttons, and of course, my beautiful wife and daughter. It was amazing to be able to use the depth of field to capture exactly what I wanted to focus on, rather than having to manipulate everything around to get a clear shot.
The one thing I was most impressed by, though, was the color. The room was lit with this afternoon glow and everything just turned magical. The light really made my novice photos into something spectacular and now I’m never going to want to take a shot at any other time of day.

Do you have any pictures of that?

Ya – actually I do, but I think I’m going to pass on posting them here. They’re just too violent for polite company.

Piñata beating, eh Christophe? Real original. Maybe tie it to someone’s car afterwards?

It was all fun and games until Stephanie almost lost an eye.

Oh wait. That was my camera, not Stephanie’s eye.
