Nikon Addresses The D200 Banding Issues
Nikon has responded to the “banding” problems that some people have reported with the D200.
I hate to see my favorite camera manufacturer produce an expensive camera with problems, but I have a feeling these complaints are a little like the flaring problem with the D70 when it was originally released and the backfocus problem of some of the recent Canon DSLR’s. In each case, the issues are almost never seen in real use. For instance, with the D200, the banding problem only occurs from extreme blown highlights. Now, a problem is a problem, but is the blown picture even any good without the banding?
Nikon’s release says they’ll fix any D200’s with banding problems. So if you have one, might as well get it taken care of. But I’d put money on this dissapearing pretty quickly, just as the D70 problems were quickly forgotten.
