While I love the look of some of the special effects you can achieve with traditional film and the darkroom, digital is just too fast to go back. Some day, after retirement, in between sips of Don Julio and dips in Smuggler’s Cove, I’m going to get a nice 4×5. Until then, Photoshop is my film substitute.

Alien Skin just released Exposure which “brings the look and feel of film to digital photography.” I downloaded the 30 day trial and had a lot boatload of fun tonight.
Need to cross process those C41 pixels in E6 chemicals?

The filters are very easy to use. It includes a nice pre/post view where you can select a variety of ways of looking at the photo. On top of the preset filter settings, you can adjust just about every aspect of each effect. I’m planing on taking some time over the next few weeks to experiment more with these controls. If I find anything worthwhile, I’ll be sure to fill you in.

Too bad they want to lighten your wallet by $199. If I did more of this type of work, it would definitely be worth it. Just a huge time saver. Huge! Shoot, maybe if I had it, I do more of this type of work.
