I Heart Grids (on my D70)
Just read a quick post about buying a grid screen for the Canon 5D. That’s one of those little things that I often forget I love so much about my D70. I turned on the on screen grid the first day I bought it and have never looked back. That’s almost 2 years of old fashion grid lovin’.
The grids are so useful for composition, I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to have them on. After a while, they even just dissapear when you’re not using them. Not that they really dissapear. Nikon isn’t that smart. But your brain just ignores them unless your lining up a shot. (That’s a crappy explanation. Really. Just a mess. Just try the grids and you’ll understand.)
Oh, didn’t know you had a grid? Here’s how to turn it on.
- Go to the options screen (the one with the pencil icon). Scroll to option number 8.
- Click to the right. Choose ON and click to the right again.
Now, don’t go hating on me for my grid love.

Now if Nikon would only make interchangeable screens for all of their cameras! I switched screens on my D1x and then it was love at first sight. If Beattie could make Intenscreens for them, it’d be heaven!
