A Paradoxical Intro to SyncSpeed
Tonight, as I stirred some melting caramel for my wife’s homemade brownies, I was trying to come up with a clever way to introduce myself and SyncSpeed. I was already feeling a little bad that out of the four blogs that are up on dpblogs.com, mine was the last without a post. No post. No categories. No “About Me” page. Not even a header pic. And then it hit me. The whole concept of this blog is a little bit of a paradox. I’m writing a blog about photographers that have a hard time finding time to enjoy their hobby. Wouldn’t it make more sense to take the time I’m spending (or going to spend) on this site and spend it on actual photography? Probably. But I really like talking about photography as well. hopefully, I’ll really like writing about it as well. And there’s also the little problem about me being one of the owners of this network.
While I’ll cover most of the standard digital photography shtick, I’d like this to be about fitting photography into our crazy, hectic, over-filled lives. Just like a lot of you, I work full time, have a family with a second child on the way, own a home, and have a variety of obligations to my church, friends, and extended family. And as I said, I’m part owner of Clarus Networks and dpblogs.com. But I still manage to get a couple shots in here and there and want to share my experiences with you. And no, they’re not ALL of the kid. Here’s the quick background for you. I’ve been a Nikon user since the end of high school (about 15 years). I love the science and art that makes photography so challenging. A couple years ago, I ditched all my film stuff and converted entirely to digital with the D70. I use Photoshop for editing, Bridge for organizing, flickr.com for sharing, and an Epson R300 for printing. Want to see the entire bag? Visit my About page. Well, visit it in a couple weeks when, hopefully, there’s something to read.
I love reading about photography.
I’m a stickler for proper monitor calibration.
I prefer “photo” over “image”.
And so I begin.
